Not surprisingly, there are several area residents and Obama supporters upset by the President’s decision not to stop in Rochester during his tour of Western New York. Buffalo and Syracuse, however, will be getting a visit and people might have a chance to catch a glimpse of him that way.

2. Sheriff Catches Suspected Thief

Sheriff Robert Arnold noticed a woman dodging cars on Memorial Boulevard. After locating her behind the Bank of America, he called to ask if she was a suspect in any crimes. Dispatchers had just learned about a Family Dollar store theft nearby. The suspect allegedly stole $8.50 worth of hair products from the store, and fled when confronted by an employee. The sheriff took her into custody and she has been released on $1,000 bond.

3. Video Surveillance Helps Cops Catch Thief

Last week, a computer repair shop in Greece was robbed, and news stations played recorded footage clips of the two men breaking into the store. A citizen watching the video recognized one of the men, and he will be charged with fourth degree grand larceny. The thieves stole a tablet and a laptop, valued together at almost $2,000.

4. Launch NY, Help for New Companies

Launch NY is a non profit organization that aims to create jobs in the region by helping out new companies in 27 different New York counties. Launch NY was set up by a group of Buffalo investors, according to one Rochester NY newspaper. Although companies come to Launch NY with a plan, the organization helps them develop the plan, structure their business and connect with customers.
