First, Rochester newspapers reported that Kodak has announced the lay off of 61 workers by late August. The company employs about 3500 people in the Rochester area. This is the first notice to occur this year, though 12 were issued in 2012. The layoffs were in film manufacturing, which continues to be a shrinking operation.

Second, although it occurred in Buffalo, a Rochester man has been accused of selling counterfeit stamps at several small grocery stores throughout 2010 and 2012. He has been charged with three counts of possession and sale of counterfeit stamps.

Third, the Rochester New York newspapers announced that a Rochester man, John Knowlton, pleaded guilty this Thursday to first degree rape as part of his plea agreement, and will receive 20 years in prison.
